I think this blog is appealing, it is colorful and seems easy to navigate. Jokes about celbrities are so popular because most everyone already knows the celebrity and they are always in the news so everyone also knows the given celebrities personality, so a joke can be widely accepted. I think this relates to our course theme because what celebrities do and how they dress seem to affect how some people tend to act or dress, and this website points this out and makes jokes about it. The author of "The 40 Classiest 'Osama is Dead' T-Shirts" is pointing out that Americans will purchase anything in the heat of the moment. You can also pick up on other references to celbrities like "winning" in reference to Charlie Sheen.
ReplyDeleteI think the set up of this blog appealing since they put the most popular pictures of videos in the home page. But other blogs or websites do the same thing to attract people. Blogs and jokes about celebrities are popular maybe because public pay attention to celebrities and they have a big influence on the society. People like stories and news about celebrities and sometime they make stories themselves, to have fun or show their love or hates of the celebrities. The blog in some extent relate to the class theme. Those jokes and shows are about celebrities or popular events and people. Those topics of jokes also indicate what people care about, the popular issues.
ReplyDeleteThe set is appealing for its bright colors and diverse photographs. Posts related to the celebrities are popular because they are famous and own good publicity. People feel funnier when jokes played on them instead of common people. The post named “When In Rome…Be The Worst Bus Driver Ever” satirizes this driver’s dangerous driving habits at the same time have a comic effect, which fits our course theme, “comedy as social commentary”. “The 40 Classiest “Osama Is Dead” T-Shirts” makes fun of Americans are enthusiastic about chasing the heat of the timely popular cultures blindly.
ReplyDeleteI think this blog is pretty funny. It's easy to navigate and it's simple enough to just look at a few posts without having to look at the whole site. Jokes about celebrities are popular because they are people that most everyone knows. Except when they are not very famous celebrities like the ones in the "Wait, Who?" post which are being made fun of for not being well known. The author of the t-shirt post is just as much making fun of the fact that people will buy almost anything to be seen as "in the loop" as he is making fun of the actual t-shirts.

Humor about popular culture is always appealing because a lot of people understand why the jokes are funny and they might address certain things that most people notice when seeing these things in real life. There are several spots where I see social commentary, especially with the Osama t-shirts. I think the author of that post is making fun of how silly some things are that Americans buy. The t-shirts are amusing in themselves as well.

ReplyDeleteI disagree that the author of the t-shirt article is making fun of the American consumer per say, I believe he is more making fun of the people making the shirts, because think about it, Osama is dead. He is deader than my great grand parents and we are MAKING A JOKE OUT OF HIM. Are we really that shallow as a population to laugh at one's death? These shirts go too far.
I feel the blog meets the class theme, because it consults social issues as well as things people are interested in, and it makes a joke out of them.
this blog is very appealing, its friendly and easy to navigate. It is set up in a very easy user friendly manner. Blogs that joke about celebrities are so popular because everyone likes a good joke and to gossip about celebrities and what they have gotten into in the media. This blog does a good job connecting to our theme because it does just as the theme states, it makes fun of social and current "things" is a comical manner.

The first reason for the popularity of the celebrity’s blogs and jokes is that the celebrities are well-known to the public, so their blogs will attract great attention. Also, people are interested in their gossip, secret and joke. This blog is relevant to the society by making fun of the timely events such as the death of the Ben Laden, and by judging some popular celebrities. Just the as the author has mentioned at the beginning of “The 40 Classiest “Osama Is Dead” T-Shirts”, I think the author is not only making fun of the “irredeemably terrible Boardwalk shirts”, but also the consumers who purchase these t-shirts.
ReplyDeleteThe blog is definitely very appealing. The site is very colorful and easy to navigate, keeping the user on the site as opposed to leaving due to frustration. I think blogs and jokes about celebrities are so popular because we see and hear these celebrities every day and to see them in a more relatable light not only makes the sites popular, but the celebrities more popular. This relates to our theme because celebrities are constantly in our minds and seeing them in a comedic situation not only makes them more relatable but also shows that they go through the same social issues as we do. I think both, the shirts are meant to be comedic and made fun of and the fact that they are bought also makes fun of the fact that American's will buy really dumb things that they dont need.
ReplyDeleteI think that the layout of the blog is not very appealing. It looks to cluttered and like it was put together in 5 minutes. i just don't really think that the blog is very funny in general. For example, one of the posts on the front page is about the marriage of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. They try and make fun of the fact that maybe not a lot of people know who they are. Yes maybe there are a lot of people who don't know who they are, but the joke just isn't that funny. I think it is because the joke can be applied to so many different things or people so it's not very interesting, therefore i don't really have a reaction to it and it's not funny.

This blog is very visually appealing. It has many popular images as well as good colors and it seems easy to navigate. Although i don't find a lot of these jokes very funny, probably a vast majority of Americans take great interest in this stuff. Americans are fascinated by celebrities and we want to know everything that is happening with them. I believe that the author of the "t-shirts" post is making fun of the fact that Americans will buy anything that is, at the time, popular and interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think this blog is a little too scattered and doesnt seem well put together although the bright banner does make it seem more appealing. I beleieve that we find it funny to make fun of celebrities because they are so highlighted and looked up too that when they finaly slip up and make a fashion mistake they get severely criticized for it. We also may find it funny because they are made out to be almost perfect and shameless so seeing them "fall" is amusing sometimes
ReplyDeleteThis blog is appealing and very colorful. There is a television program on VH1 best week ever which is about this blog. It has the same intent of the blog and is very funny. They make fun of current topics that they find funny. As social commentary there is some of that currently going on. I believe that the point is not necessarily to get people to think or change their views just maybe bring them to light or talk about how absurd a lot of things are. As for the Osama t-shirts I think that everyone knows a lot of Americans will buy anything in the spur of the moment. That seems to be an old topic, but I believe the mere notion that tons people are celebrating the death of this man is more important. I was personally thrilled with the news, think many of the shirts are very funny, and would have jumped in Mirror Lake had I not had midterms the next day.

Because public pay their attention a lot to these celebrities. Their jokes can become make our life more interesting. By making fun of these popular people and publicizing crazy actions and activities, we can realize the trend and the phenomena in this society. The post “The 40 classiest “Osama is Dead T shirts” is making fun of American people purchase things in the moment of heat. Maybe people just follow the trend and their passion and impulse.
